The surface we see is handpainted first and then layered over, so mistakes cannot be corrected. The artisan’s design is silk-screened onto the reverse side of the glass. The details are painted first, then larger color areas, and lastly, a background color is the final layer. It takes great skill and years of apprenticeship to learn this heritage art.
