Peruvian turquoise is actually chrysocolla, a semiprecious gemstone. Chrysocolla was valued in jewelry by the Incas, Aztecs and other ancient cultures. Peruvian turquoise adorned the ceremonial dress of early Incas. Alpaca metal, an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel, is silver-colored and tarnish resistant.
